Psalm 37:25 I have been young, and now I am old, but I have never seen a righteous person abandoned or his descendants begging for food.
Psalm 37:25 teaches one central truth: God’s long-term faithfulness to the righteous is consistent, observable, and generational. David is not giving a theory—he is giving a lifetime testimony.
David says that from youth to old age, he has never seen God abandon a righteous person or leave their children destitute. This is not a promise of a trouble‑free life, but a declaration that God does not ultimately forsake His people, and His care often extends to their families.
In this verse David spans his entire life—shepherd boy, fugitive, and king—David says his conclusion is based on decades of watching God work. This gives the statement weight: he has seen enough to speak with authority. In this verse David is not speaking about something that he has been told, or something that he is guessing about. David is speaking about what he has witnessed, David is speaking about what he has experienced, oh yes David is speaking about what he has lived.
David concludes this verse by stating: or his children begging for bread. David is pointing out that God’s care doesn’t stop with the righteous person—it spills over to their children.
This verse reflects God’s character. God is a Father who provides.
When a righteous person walks with Him, their children often benefit from: God’s protection, God’s provision, God’s guidance, and God’s mercy.
David is testifying: God doesn’t abandon the righteous, and He doesn’t abandon their children either.
Let us live a righteous life, if we live a righteous life we and our children will be blessed by God.
Live in a way that blesses the next generation. Trust God’s long-term provision, not short-term circumstances. Build habits today that protect your children tomorrow.
Let us also remember:
Acts:16:31 They answered, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you and your family will be saved.”
