When God guides your steps, you don’t have to live by trial and error. He leads you into the right relationships, the right opportunities, and the right timing. You avoid unnecessary detours, delays, and heartbreak. Psalm 32:8 — God promises to instruct and teach you in the way you should go. Isaiah 30:21 — God’s voice says, “This is the way; walk in it,” when you turn right or left. God doesn’t just guide — He guards. He keeps you from traps you can’t see. He blocks paths that would harm you and He exposes hidden dangers. Psalm 32:8 (KJV) “I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.” Revelation 3:7–8 (KJV) “…he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth… behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it.” When you allow God to guide your footsteps no one can block what God has prepared for you. When you allow God to guide your footsteps you gain direction, protection, peace, open doors, wisdom, correction, and strength. God Directs the Steps of Those Who Trust Him Proverbs 3:5–6 — Trusting God with all your heart and submitting your ways to Him leads to straight paths. Psalm 37:23–24 — God makes firm the steps of the one who delights in Him and upholds them even when they stumble. Proverbs 16:9 — We plan our way, but the Lord establishes our steps. Letting God guide your footsteps begins with surrender—trusting His wisdom over your own.
Scripture draws a clear distinction between moderate drinking and drunkenness, making the latter explicitly sinful. Drunkenness itself is condemned as leading to “wild living,” (Eph 5:18) and those who engage in drunkenness will not inherit God’s kingdom. (Gal 5:19–21) The line between acceptable consumption and sin crosses at the point of intoxication. Wine was not to be used excessively, and one was not to become drunk with the fruit of the vine. Both Old and New Testaments uniformly criticize drunkenness as moral failure. The consequences extend beyond the individual—drunkenness leads to destabilization and impaired judgment, which is why kings are specifically warned against drinking wine or craving liquor, lest they forget their decrees and pervert justice for the oppressed. (Prov 31:4–7) The biblical perspective permits moderate consumption while condemning excess. The biblical norm is temperance—self-control and moderation in all behavior, not total abstinence from alcoholic beverages. However, strong Christians should be considerate of weaker believers, and if indulgence causes another to stumble spiritually, it is better to abstain. Additionally, certain individuals—Nazirites and ministering priests—were required to abstain entirely from alcoholic beverages. The Bible illustrates drunkenness’s destructive power through vivid imagery: those who drink excessively experience consequences that “bite like a snake,” leading to strange visions and embarrassing speech. (Prov 23:29–35) Sin emerges when consumption crosses from enjoyment into loss of self-control—when the drinker can no longer think clearly or act responsibly.

God blesses with His favor those who walk closely with Him — the humble, the righteous, the faithful, the obedient, and those who seek Him. Who God Blesses With His Favor — Psalm 5:12 (GW) “You bless righteous people, O Lord. Like a large shield, you surround them with your favor.” God’s favor is a protective shield around those who live in alignment with Him. James 4:6 (GW) “God opposes the arrogant but is kind to the humble.” Humility attracts God’s kindness, grace, and favor. Lamentations 3:25 (GW) “The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to anyone who seeks him.” God shows special goodness and favor to those who pursue Him. Deuteronomy 28:1–2 (GW) “If you will faithfully obey the Lord your God… all these blessings will come to you and stay close to you.” Obedience positions you under the flow of God’s favor. ALLOW THIS WORD FROM GOD TO BE A GUIDE UNTO YOUR LIFE.
1 Corinthians 9:24 Don’t you realize that everyone who runs in a race runs to win, but only one runner gets the prize? Run like them, so that you can win. DON’T JUST LIVE YOUR LIFE, LIVE TO WIN IN EVERY AREA OF YOUR LIFE. Philippians 3:13–14 Brothers and sisters, I can’t consider myself a winner yet. This is what I do: I don’t look back, I lengthen my stride, and I run straight toward the goal to win the prize that God’s heavenly call offers in Christ Jesus. STOP LOOKING BACK AND START LOOKING FORWARD TO ACHIEVE THE PRIZE THAT GOD HAS FOR US. Colossians 1:29 I work hard and struggle to do this while his mighty power works in me.
Romans 8:31 What then are we to say about these things? If God is for us, who is against us? Romans 8:31 is Paul’s declaration that God’s commitment to His people makes every opposing force ultimately powerless. The verse is a rhetorical question meant to anchor believers in unshakeable confidence: If the Almighty God is for you, then no enemy—human, spiritual, or circumstantial—can ultimately prevail. When Paul asks, “If God is for us, who can be against us?” he is not suggesting a possibility—he is stating a settled reality. God is for His people. He is actively working for their good, defending them, providing for them, and interceding for them. LET US PRAISE OUR GOD, LET US GIVE THANKS TO OUR GOD. Nothing More Known but Less Practiced Than Christianity.
Isaiah 29:13 The Lord says, “These people worship me with their mouths and honor me with their lips. But their hearts are far from me, and their worship of me is ⸤based on⸥ rules made by humans. James 1:23–25 If someone listens to God’s word but doesn’t do what it says, he is like a person who looks at his face in a mirror, studies his features, goes away, and immediately forgets what he looks like. However, the person who continues to study God’s perfect laws that make people free and who remains committed to them will be blessed. People like that don’t merely listen and forget; they actually do what God’s laws say. 1 Peter 2:1–3 So get rid of every kind of evil, every kind of deception, hypocrisy, jealousy, and every kind of slander. Desire God’s pure word as newborn babies desire milk. Then you will grow in your salvation. Certainly you have tasted that the Lord is good! Nothing is more generally known than our duties which belong to Christianity; and yet, how amazing is it, nothing is less practiced? There is much of it in name and show, but little of it in the heart and conversation; indeed, if going to church, and to the sacrament, or, if our being called after the name of Christ, and being baptized into that name; if that will make us Christians, I believe all of us would have a claim thereto.
DON’T JUST TALK ABOUT BEING A CHRISTIAN, BE ABOUT IT.
Proverbs 3:5–6 Trust the LORD with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths smooth. Psalm 37:5 “Entrust your ways to the LORD. Trust him, and he will act on your behalf.” Jeremiah 17:7 “Blessed is the person who trusts the LORD. The LORD will be his confidence.” Psalm 28:7 “The LORD is my strength and my shield. My heart trusted him, so I received help.”
THESE VERSES MAKE IT VERY CLEAR WHY WE SHOULD TRUST GOD. IT’S IN OUR BEST INTEREST TO TRUST GOD, PLUS IF YOU LOVE HIM YOU WILL TRUST HIM, IF YOU KNOW HIM YOU WILL TRUST HIM. TRUST GOD.
