No — Scripture does not teach blind obedience to wicked rulers. We honor authority in its God‑given role, but we do not follow leaders into sin, nor obey commands that violate God’s Word. When rulers become wicked, God’s people are told to stand, speak, resist, and obey God rather than men.
God’s people resist wicked commands
Daniel 3:18 (KJV) But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.
Daniel 6:10 (KJV) …he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed… (He disobeyed the king’s wicked decree.)
Exodus 1:17 (KJV) But the midwives feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them…
We honor authority — but only within God’s boundaries
Romans 13:3 (KJV) For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. (When rulers become a terror to good works, they step outside God’s design.)
1 Peter 2:13–14 (KJV) Submit yourselves… to the king… For the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.(When rulers punish the righteous and reward evil, they violate their God‑given purpose.)
We obey God above all rulers
Acts 5:29 (KJV) Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.
Acts 4:19 (KJV) But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye.
God removes wicked rulers
Psalm 75:7 (KJV) But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.
Daniel 2:21 (KJV) And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings…
THE BOTTOM LINE IS:
We honor authority as God designed it, not as wicked men twist it.
We never obey commands that violate Scripture.
When rulers become wicked, God’s people stand firm, refuse evil, and obey God first.
Scripture is consistent: Wicked leadership is to be resisted, not followed.
WE ARE NOT TO FOLLOW WICKED RULERS!!!!
WE FOLLOW GOD!
I HOPE YOU FOUND THIS QUICK REFRESHER TO BE HELPFUL
