GOD TEACHES US ABOUT MARRIAGE Marriage is honourable for all. Heb 13:4 Marriage is honorable in every way, so husbands and wives should be faithful to each other. God will judge those who commit sexual sins, especially those who commit adultery. Marriage should be only in the Lord. 1 Corinthians 7:39 A married woman must remain with her husband as long as he lives. If her husband dies, she is free to marry anyone she wishes, but only if the man is a Christian. Marriage is divinely instituted. Ge 2:24. That is why a man will leave his father and mother and will be united with his wife, and they will become one flesh. Designed for a. The happiness of man. Ge 2:18. Then the LORD God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is right for him.” b. Increasing the human population. Ge 1:28 God blessed them and said, “Be fertile, increase in number, fill the earth, and be its master. Rule the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the animals that crawl on the earth.” Ge 9:1 God blessed Noah and his sons and said to them, “Be fertile, increase in number, and fill the earth. c. Raising up godly seed. Mal 2:15 Didn’t ⸤God⸥ make you one? Your flesh and spirit belong to him. And what does the same ⸤God⸥ look for but godly descendants? So be careful not to be unfaithful to the wife of your youth. d. THINK ABOUT THIS God is the supreme purpose of all things., 1 Pe. 4:10–11 Each of you as a good manager must use the gift that God has given you to serve others. Whoever speaks must speak God’s words. Whoever serves must serve with the strength God supplies so that in every way God receives glory through Jesus Christ. Glory and power belong to Jesus Christ forever and ever! Amen. Failure to glorify God is the great sin of unbelievers., Ro. 1:20–32 From the creation of the world, God’s invisible qualities, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly observed in what he made. As a result, people have no excuse. They knew God but did not praise and thank him for being God. Instead, their thoughts were pointless, and their misguided minds were plunged into darkness. While claiming to be wise, they became fools. They exchanged the glory of the immortal God for statues that looked like mortal humans, birds, animals, and snakes. For this reason God allowed their lusts to control them. As a result, they dishonor their bodies by sexual perversion with each other. These people have exchanged God’s truth for a lie. So they have become ungodly and serve what is created rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen! For this reason God allowed their shameful passions to control them. Their women have exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. Likewise, their men have given up natural sexual relations with women and burn with lust for each other. Men commit indecent acts with men, so they experience among themselves the punishment they deserve for their perversion. And because they thought it was worthless to acknowledge God, God allowed their own immoral minds to control them. So they do these indecent things. Their lives are filled with all kinds of sexual sins, wickedness, and greed. They are mean. They are filled with envy, murder, quarreling, deceit, and viciousness. They are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, haughty, arrogant, and boastful. They think up new ways to be cruel. They don’t obey their parents, don’t have any sense, don’t keep promises, and don’t show love to their own families or mercy to others. Although they know God’s judgment that those who do such things deserve to die, they not only do these things but also approve of others who do them. FOOD FOR THOUGHT. WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THIS? GOD IS SPEAKING TO US. Being enemies of the cross., Ph. 3:18–19 I have often told you, and now tell you with tears in my eyes, that many live as the enemies of the cross of Christ. In the end they will be destroyed. Their own emotions are their god, and they take pride in the shameful things they do. Their minds are set on worldly things. Being weak., Ro. 15:1–3 So those of us who have a strong ⸤faith⸥ must be patient with the weaknesses of those whose ⸤faith⸥ is not so strong. We must not think only of ourselves. We should all be concerned about our neighbor and the good things that will build his faith. Christ did not think only of himself. Rather, as Scripture says, “The insults of those who insult you have fallen on me.” 1 Corinthians 6:9–11 Don’t you know that wicked people won’t inherit God’s kingdom? Stop deceiving yourselves! People who continue to commit sexual sins, who worship false gods, those who commit adultery, homosexuals, or thieves, those who are greedy or drunk, who use abusive language, or who rob people will not inherit God’s kingdom. That’s what some of you were! But you have been washed and made holy, and you have received God’s approval in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God. I PRAY THAT YOU ALLOW THIS WORD FROM GOD TO BRING A CHANGE UNTO YOUR LIFE, YOUR FAMILIES LIFE, AND INTO THE LIFE OF THE PEOPLE THAT GOD PUT IN YOUR PATH. GOD SPEAKS TO US ABOUT KINDNESS Ephesians 4:32 ESV Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you. Proverbs 11:17 ESV A man who is kind benefits himself, but a cruel man hurts himself. Luke 6:35 ESV But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and the evil. Proverbs 19:17 ESV Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed. Galatians 6:10 ESV So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith. ALLOW THESE VERSES TO BE A GUIDE UNTO YOUR LIFE. WE ARE FAMILY. WE MUST GET ALONG WITH EACH OTHER, AND WORK TOGETHER. Mark 1:19 As Jesus went on a little farther, he saw James and John, the sons of Zebedee. They were in a boat preparing their nets ⸤to go fishing⸥. The disciples of Jesus were cooperative men. They were brothers, and yet they were working together. The fact that they were working together says at least three things. 1. They had good parents who had taught them to love and care for one another. 2. They came from a closely knit family, a family that worked together. 3. They followed in the steps of their parents’ teaching, maintaining a brotherly spirit throughout life. The disciples’ brotherly, cooperative spirit shows us three things. 1) The need for a brotherly spirit: the kind of spirit Christ desires of His followers. The kind of kingdom Christ is building is a kingdom of followers with a brotherly spirit. “Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself” (Mt. 22:39). “This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you” (Jn. 15:12; see Jn. 13:35; 1 Pe. 1:22). “Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another” (Ro. 12:10). 2) The need for reaching families: brothers and sisters reaching each other. “He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ. And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas” (Jn. 1:41–42). 3) The need for parents to train up their children in the way they should go. “And thou shalt teach them [God’s words] diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up” (De. 6:7). THIS WORD FROM GOD IS MEANT TO BE AN EXAMPLE UNTO PARENTS AND CHILDREN. HOPEFULLY ALL WILL RECEIVE FROM THIS. Everlastingsalvationchurchofgod.com PASTOR ANDRA HIGGINBOTHAM
GOD TEACHES US ABOUT DESIRES OF OUR HEART Psalm 37:4 ESV Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:5 ESV Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act. Matthew 6:33 ESV But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Romans 8:28 ESV And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. Matthew 7:8 ESV For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. ALLOW THESE VERSES TO BE A GUIDE UNTO YOUR LIFE.
