“The Lord Is Strong and Mighty”

“The Lord Is Strong and Mighty”
What the Lord is to His people as the Strong One.
1. “A Strong Rock” for defence to save. Psalm 31:2-3 Turn your ear toward me. Rescue me quickly. Be a rock of refuge for me, a strong fortress to save me. Indeed, you are my rock and my fortress. For the sake of your name, lead me and guide me.
2. “A Strong Tower” to protect from “the enemy”. Psalm 61 :3 You have been my refuge, a tower of strength against the enemy.
3. “A Strong Habitation” to home for comfort and protection Psalm 71:3 Be a rock on which I may live, a place where I may always go. You gave the order to save me! Indeed, you are my rock and my fortress.
4. “A Strong Refuge” to preserve from all ills Psalm 71:7 I have become an example to many people, but you are my strong refuge.
5. “A Strong Lord” in the might of His ability to shield all about us Psalm 89:8 O LORD God of Armies, who is like you? Mighty LORD, even your faithfulness surrounds you.
6. “A Strong Tower” is found in the Name of Jehovah to meet every emergency Proverbs 18:10 The name of the LORD is a strong tower. A righteous person runs to it and is safe.
LET US NOT FORGET THAT OUR GOD IS STRONG, AND ALL MIGHTY.

FAITH AND WORKS

FAITH AND WORKS
Faith is the confident assurance of things hoped for, a conviction of the reality of things not seen, Heb. 11:1. It is the basis for salvation, Gal. 3:26; 1 Pet. 1:5. Works are the deeds men do, whether good or evil, Gal. 2:16; Eph. 5:11. They are the basis for rewards or punishment when men are judged, 1 Cor. 3:11–15; Rev. 20:11–15. Men confuse these two concepts; Scripture never does.
A contradiction has been imagined between two passages. Paul wrote, “a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law,” Rom. 3:28. Wrote James, “by works a man is justified, and not by faith only,” Jas. 2:24. There is no real problem. Paul was writing about justification before God, Rom. 4:2 , while James wrote about justification before men. He was dealing with the question of the man who says he has faith, but has no works to demonstrate its reality, Jas. 2:14–20. He says nothing to discredit faith, nor to suggest that a man of faith may be lost. Paul speaks of the root of the Christian life; James its fruit.
Faith and works are put in their proper perspective in Eph. 2:8–10. We are saved by faith, not by works, but we are saved “unto good works.” This means we are to maintain good works, Tit. 3:8 , being fruitful in them, Col. 1:10, so that God may be glorified when Christ returns, 1 Pet. 2:12

GUARD YOURSELF:

GUARD YOURSELF:
1 Corinthians 9:24–27
Don’t you realize that everyone who runs in a race runs to win, but only one runner gets the prize? Run like them, so that you can win. Everyone who enters an athletic contest goes into strict training. They do it to win a temporary crown, but we do it to win one that will be permanent. So I run—but not without a clear goal ahead of me. So I box—but not as if I were just shadow boxing. Rather, I toughen my body with punches and make it my slave so that I will not be disqualified after I have spread the Good News to others.
2 Timothy 1:7
God didn’t give us a cowardly spirit but a spirit of power, love, and good judgment.
People in the world who commit crime are thrown into prison against their will. For our sins, let us put ourselves under guard, and by willingly accepting it now we shall avoid punishment in the future.
THINK ABOUT IT.

ENEMIES

ENEMIES
Believers have three great enemies: the world, the flesh, and the devil, Matt. 13:19–22; Eph. 2:2, 3; Jas. 4:1–7. Three weapons have been provided for victory, and a different member of the Trinity is available to help the Christian in each case.
The world in this usage is not the material creation, given to us richly to enjoy, 1 Tim. 6:17 , but the world of men, devoted to lust and pleasure, 1 John 2:15–17. The child of God has been given the weapon of faith so that he can overcome, 1 John 5:4, 5. God the Father has a special relationship to the world, 1 John 2:15; Jas. 4:4.
The enemy called the flesh is not the human body, but the old nature with its propensity to sin, in which dwelleth no good thing, Rom. 7:18. Walking in the Spirit is the means of victory, Gal. 5:16. God the Holy Spirit is set over against the flesh. They who are in the flesh cannot please God; they who are “in the Spirit” are not “in the flesh,” Rom. 8:8, 9.
The devil is revealed in Scripture to be a person, exceedingly wise, Ezek. 28:11–18 , the leader of the hosts of wickedness, Matt. 25:41. Christ overcame the devil by using the Word of God, Matt. 4:1–11. So may every believer, 1 John 2:14; Rev. 12:11. Christ and the devil are given a relationship in the Bible which suggests the believer’s victory is in Christ, Gen. 3:15; Zech. 3:1–5

CURSE

CURSE
A terrible revelation is found throughout Scripture about this word. The curse of God came upon the animal creation, Gen. 3:14; Isa. 11:6, 7. The ground itself was cursed so that it has brought forth thorns and thistles ever since, Gen. 3:17–19; Isa. 24:5, 6. The whole creation, including man, is involved, Rom. 8:22.
An important key to history is found in the fact that a special curse rests upon Israel’s enemies, Gen. 12:3. The Jews themselves were cursed for turning away from God’s Word, Deut. 28:15. It was further predicted that they would be a curse while scattered among the nations, but a blessing after God restores them to Palestine, Jer. 29:18; Zech. 8:13.
Everyone who has not perfectly kept God’s law is cursed, Deut. 27:26; Gal. 3:10. “The curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked,” Prov. 3:33. Men are still called “ye cursed” when they are cast into everlasting fire, Matt. 25:41. However, Christ has redeemed from the curse all who believe on Him, being made a curse for them on the cross, Gal. 3:13. He bore the symbol of the curse when He wore the crown of thorns, Matt. 27:29. A curse rests upon anyone who preaches a false gospel, Gal. 1:8, 9 , or who does not love the Lord, 1 Cor. 16:22. The curse is finally to be lifted, Rev. 21:1–5; 22:3

COMMUNITY IS IMPORTANT TO GOD

COMMUNITY IS IMPORTANT TO GOD
Hebrews 10:24-25

Romans 12:16
Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.
Matthew 18:20
For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.
Psalm 133:1
How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!
1 Peter 3:8
Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble.

God teaches us about sin

God teaches us about sin
1. Sin weakens the body, as inferred by Christ: “Go and sin no more,” to the impotent man (John 5:14).
2. Sin impairs the mind, as is illustrated in the King of Babylon—Dan. 4:28–34.
3. Sin robs the soul, for its wages is death—Rom. 6:23.
4. Sin mars the spirit, for it deceives those who are its votaries—Heb. 3:13.
5. Sin darkens the understanding, as Christ told the Pharisees—John 9:41.
6. Sin deafens the spiritual sense, for it causes us to forget the Lord—Deut. 8:11, 14.
7. Sin cripples the memory, for it causes men to turn away from the truth—2 Tim. 4:3, 4.
