It’s all about Jesus

It’s all about Jesus

Philippians 3:8 It’s far more than that! I consider everything else worthless because I’m much better off knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. It’s because of him that I think of everything as worthless. I threw it all away in order to gain Christ.
In this verse Paul is saying that everything he used to value—status, achievements, reputation, religious credentials—became worthless compared to the surpassing worth of knowing Christ. Once he saw Jesus clearly, everything else lost its power to define him.
Paul has just listed all the things he could boast about—his heritage, his strict obedience to the law, his religious accomplishments. Then he says: Even those impressive things don’t compare to Christ. He’s emphasizing that knowing Jesus isn’t just “better”—it’s infinitely better.
Paul isn’t saying that life, work, or responsibilities have no value. He’s saying that nothing else can give identity, righteousness, or salvation. Anything that once made him feel important is now empty compared to Christ.
This is the heart of the verse. Knowing Christ—personally, relationally, intimately—is the greatest treasure. Not just knowing about Him, but knowing Him as Lord, the One who directs and defines life.
Christ changes the value system.
Once you see the glory of Jesus:
Success doesn’t define you
Failure doesn’t destroy you
People’s opinions don’t control you
Achievements don’t impress you
Religion without relationship doesn’t satisfy you
Christ becomes the center, and everything else becomes secondary.
Paul willingly let go of: His reputation, His religious status, His personal accomplishments, and His old identity. Why? Because you cannot cling to the old life and fully embrace Christ at the same time.
To “gain Christ” means:
To belong to Him
To be found in Him
To receive His righteousness
To walk in His power
To live for His purpose
Paul traded everything he once trusted in for the only thing that truly saves.
Knowing Christ is the greatest treasure.
Everything else is small compared to Him.
Letting go of the old life is how you gain the fullness of Christ.
THINK ABOUT IT, THERE ARE SOME THINGS WE NEED TO LET GO OF, LET IT GO NOW, GET RID OF IT!!!
