Ephesians 5:1 Imitate God, since you are the children he loves.
Matthew 5:48 “Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.”
God’s perfection is the model.
Luke 6:36 “Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.”
Mercy is a direct imitation of God.
1 Peter 1:15–16 “Be holy in every aspect of your life, just as the one who called you is holy.”
Holiness is the foundation of imitation.
Leviticus 11:45 — God calls His people to holiness because He is holy.
Ephesians 4:32 (GW) — “Be kind to each other, sympathetic, forgiving each other as God has forgiven you through Christ.”
This is the verse immediately before Eph. 5:1 — the flow is intentional.
1 John 4:11 (GW) — “If God loved us that much, we should love each other.”
God’s love becomes our model.
