“Walking With Jesus Through Holy Week” (Part 2)

Good Friday — The Crucifixion
Isaiah 53:5 “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities…”
John 19:30 “When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.”
What Good Friday Means
Good Friday is the day Christians remember the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ. It is the most solemn day of Holy Week, yet it carries the deepest hope, because the suffering of Christ is the very act that brings salvation.
Even though the events were tragic, the day is called “Good” because of what Jesus accomplished through His sacrifice: our redemption, forgiveness, and reconciliation with God.
What Happened on Good Friday
Here are the key moments traditionally associated with the day:
• Jesus is arrested in the Garden of Gethsemane
• He is falsely accused, beaten, and sentenced
• He carries His cross to Golgotha
• He is nailed to the cross between two criminals
• Darkness covers the land
• Jesus speaks His final words
• He dies and is laid in a borrowed tomb
Good Friday is the fulfillment of prophecy — the Lamb of God offering Himself for the sins of the world.
Why Good Friday Matters Spiritually
1. It reveals the depth of God’s love
Jesus willingly suffered to save humanity.
2. It exposes the seriousness of sin
The cross shows that sin is not a small matter — it required a perfect sacrifice.
3. It demonstrates the obedience of Christ
He submitted fully to the Father’s will, even unto death.
4. It opens the way to salvation
Through His death, the barrier between God and humanity is removed.
5. It sets the stage for the Resurrection
Good Friday is not the end — it is the doorway to Easter Sunday.

LET US NEVER FORGET WHAT JESUS ENDURED BECAUSE OF HIS LOVE FOR US. LET US NEVER FORGET THE IMPORTANCE OF WHAT JESUS ENDURED BECAUSE OF HIS LOVE FOR US.
