TRUFULLNESS OF GOD To call the LORD “the true God” means that he alone has in his being the fulness of deity and is worthy to be worshipped as God. He and his word are a trustworthy foundation for life because he speaks the truth and is utterly reliable and consistent in his character, his revelation of himself, his promises and his pronouncements. Isaiah 65:16 Whoever asks for a blessing in the land will be blessed by the God of Truth. Whoever swears an oath in the land will swear by the God of Truth. Past troubles are forgotten. They are hidden from my eyes. Psalm 31:5 Into your hands I entrust my spirit. You have rescued me, O LORD, God of truth. John 14:6 Jesus answered him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one goes to the Father except through me. John 1:14 The Word became human and lived among us. We saw his glory. WHEN WE DON’T FEEL LIKE PRAYING Oftentimes when we come to God in prayer, we do not feel like praying. What shall one do in such a case? Cease praying until he does feel like it? Not at all. When we feel least like praying is the time when we most need to pray. Romans 8:26-27 At the same time the Spirit also helps us in our weakness, because we don’t know how to pray for what we need. But the Spirit intercedes along with our groans that cannot be expressed in words. The one who searches our hearts knows what the Spirit has in mind. PRAYING TO A PRESENT GOD In order that a prayer should be really unto God, there must be a definite and conscious approach to God when we pray; we must have a definite and vivid realization that God is bending over us and listening as we pray. 2 Chronicles 7:14 However, if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves, pray, search for me, and turn from their evil ways, then I will hear ⸤their prayer⸥ from heaven, forgive their sins, and heal their country. Jeremiah 29:12 Then you will call to me. You will come and pray to me, and I will hear you. Philippians 4:6 Never worry about anything. But in every situation let God know what you need in prayers and requests while giving thanks. James 1:6-8 When you ask for something, don’t have any doubts. A person who has doubts is like a wave that is blown by the wind and tossed by the sea. A person who has doubts shouldn’t expect to receive anything from the Lord. Blessings of the Upright One said of a devoted Christian man in his business, “He commands my custom, for all his goods are Christian;” and of another, “He sells a Christian shovel.” When we are “upright in heart and life and business, we need no recommendation.” The upright man, and not the leaner, is ever the blessed one. If the Book of Proverbs is carefully studied, it will be found there are many blessings which come to the upright. 1. The upright “dwell in the land” of promised blessing—2:21. 2. The upright have Jehovah as their strength—10:29. 3. The integrity and righteousness of the upright bring guidance and deliverance—11:3, 6, 11. 4. The upright are a joy to the Lord, and He delights to answer their prayer—11:20; 15:8. 5. The upright find that the Lord keeps them, causes them to flourish, and obtain definite direction—13:6; 14:11; 21:29. 6. ABIDING IN CHRIST The NT stresses the need for believers to remain in Christ. The reality of this close personal relationship with Jesus Christ is expressed in obedience to his word and is essential to effective discipleship. John 15:4–9 Live in me, and I will live in you. A branch cannot produce any fruit by itself. It has to stay attached to the vine. In the same way, you cannot produce fruit unless you live in me. “I am the vine. You are the branches. Those who live in me while I live in them will produce a lot of fruit. But you can’t produce anything without me. Whoever doesn’t live in me is thrown away like a branch and dries up. Branches like this are gathered, thrown into a fire, and burned. If you live in me and what I say lives in you, then ask for anything you want, and it will be yours. You give glory to my Father when you produce a lot of fruit and therefore show that you are my disciples. “I have loved you the same way the Father has loved me. So live in my love. Luke 9:62 Jesus said to him, “Whoever starts to plow and looks back is not fit for God’s kingdom.” John 6:67 So Jesus asked the twelve apostles, “Do you want to leave me too?” Galatians 4:9 But now you know God, or rather, God knows you. So how can you turn back again to the powerless and bankrupt principles of this world? Why do you want to become their slaves all over again? Colossians 2:6 You received Christ Jesus the Lord, so continue to live as Christ’s people. Hebrews 12:1–3 Since we are surrounded by so many examples ⸤of faith⸥, we must get rid of everything that slows us down, especially sin that distracts us. We must run the race that lies ahead of us and never give up. We must focus on Jesus, the source and goal of our faith. He saw the joy ahead of him, so he endured death on the cross and ignored the disgrace it brought him. Now he holds the honored position—the one next to God the Father on the heavenly throne. Think about Jesus, who endured opposition from sinners, so that you don’t become tired and give up. DON’T GIVE UP, DON’T TURN BACK, WE MUST STAY CLOSE TO JESUS, WE MUST ABIDE IN CHRIST.
