THE BIBLE TEACHES US ABOUT GOD’S LOVE God’s love takes many forms throughout Scripture. 1 John 4:8 even refers to God Himself as love. Love could be explained as wanting the best for someone, and that’s exactly what God intends for us. God loves you simply because he loves you. You don’t have to work for his affection. You don’t have to set yourself straight before God can pour out his love over you. 1 John 4:19 – We love because he first loved us. Romans 5:8 – But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. John 3:16 – “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 1 John 4:16 – So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God saved us and called us to be holy, not because of what we had done, but because of his own plan and kindness. Before the world began, God planned that Christ Jesus would show us God’s kindness. 2. Mediator through whom we are Saved. Christ: “Through Him might be saved” (John 3:17). God sent his Son into the world, not to condemn the world, but to save the world. 3. Cause of our being Saved. Grace: “By grace ye are saved” (Eph. 2:5–8). We were dead because of our failures, but he made us alive together with Christ. (It is God’s kindness that saved you.) God has brought us back to life together with Christ Jesus and has given us a position in heaven with him. He did this through Christ Jesus out of his generosity to us in order to show his extremely rich kindness in the world to come. God saved you through faith as an act of kindness. You had nothing to do with it. Being saved is a gift from God. 4. Instrument of being Saved. Faith: “Thy faith hath saved thee” (Luke 7:50). Jesus said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you. Go in peace!” 5. Assurance to those who desire to be saved and those who are. Word of Christ: “These things I say that ye might be saved” (John 5:34). But I don’t depend on human testimony. I’m telling you this to save you. 6. Promise to those who want to be Saved. Prayer: “Whosoever shall call on the Name of the Lord shall be saved” (Acts 2:21). Then whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’ 7. Mission of the Christ and the Gospel. “By which also ye are saved” (1 Cor. 15:2). In addition, you are saved by this Good News if you hold on to the doctrine I taught you, unless you believed it without thinking it over. OUR GOD LOVES US!!!
